Sandy is a self-taught, visual artist with disabilities.
In her art work she strive's to capture the vivid memories of her childhood, sometimes adding strange surrealism to her child-like art work.
All of Sandy's paintings are original and hopes will bring joy and humour, sometimes sadness, to all people of all ages.
Sandy prefer's to use acrylic paint but experiments with other media, including recycled items. Cling film and dressmakers webbing are used in one of her latest works. Sandy also designs and paints Rock Art and Memorial Stones. More can be seen in her mini blog on her website at www.artbysandywager.com
Born in Colchester , UK in 1953 Sandy has now settled in Plymouth, Devon.
As a child, in 1963/64, Sandy won 2 County Awards in The Brooke Bond Arts Competition. She gained 1st place in the first year then 3rd the following year.
Since then , Sandy has moved homes many times, finally settling down roots in the beautiful West Country. Once in a while during these years Sandy would sketch and paint cartoons.
In the early 1990s, Sandy unknowingly fractured her spine during a parachute jump. Over the years since then her health has worsened and in 2007 retired from the working circuit and began to paint full time.
Sandy is inspired by the following artists:
Beryl Cook, Marcel Lorange, Salvador Dali,
Henri Rosseau, Fernando Botero, Rene Magritte,
